A secure and effective VPN by avast that allows users to securely and privately browse the internet
Avast is a well-known player in the antivirus and security business, and the Secureline VPN is their flagship product in the VPN industry. It's designed to protect users' privacy by preventing ISP (Internet Service Provider) snooping and spies on public Wifi networks.
Their 27 server architecture allows users to appear as coming from many countries around the world. While the ostensible purpose of the product is to maintain security and peace of mind, this can also function as a geographic unblocker, so that people can access foreign media sites that are not available in their own country.
There are many VPN services available, and so it's important to have a VPN that you can trust and has reliable service. Here's how Avast! Secureline stands: the piece of software is intended for people who do not wish for a high level of configuration options. There is only one large button that says CONNECT, and there are a few other options (like to select the country of connection). Other than that, Avast! retains the rest of the configuration, making this a no-go for security enthusiasts or people who wish for full autonomy over their VPN usage.
When we tested it, we maxed out our 50 Mbps connection, so speed is likely not an issue. Of course, with any VPN you will lose speed due to latency when you select servers that are more than a few hundred miles away from your computer's location. Finally, Avast's VPN is a great choice if you want a plug and play internet security option. It is missing some configuration options that some may see as an essential part of their security features, but the service has good speeds and uptime.
